RD Update – July 2021

News from World Board and NAWS

Little White Book 60th Anniversary Edition

The World Board is proposing publication of a Little White Book 60th Anniversary Edition which includes the currently English language version plus the 85 personal stories (assuming in English) from the other translated versions of the LWB. Because this is not new literature, it does not require fellowship approval, but there is a 60 day period for feedback, so if you have strong feelings or question about this project, please email wb@na.org

Spiritual Principle a Day Book (SPAD)

All material for the book is posted for review at www.na.org/spad and input is due by September 13th.

Virtual Meeting Toolbox

Ongoing work on the toolbox / best practices for virtual meetings continues to be shared at

Conference Participant Web Meeting and WSZF Quarterly

I was unable to attend the June 12th CP Web Meeting. Carl attended, but had some connection issues, so details are pulled from the WB report.

  • I have attached a copy of the WB report, which includes lots of interesting information, especially in the question and answer section. Some interesting details include:
  • 4 of the 24 furloughed staff have been brought back on for “mission critical work”.
  • World Convention, the WB has signed a contract with the Melbourne Convention Center for November 2022. Can be cancelled any time prior to November of this year. Waiting to see where travel restrictions are in October before making a final decision.
  • WSC 2022 was discussed, but no decisions made… more discussion will be held at newly added meeting
  • An additional meeting was set for July 24th at 11am.

Currently, our WSZF Quarterly meeting is set for June 24th as well, but I’m sure that will need to change.

Results from Virtual Meeting Survey: 4,230 members responded:

1,958 English, 872 Farsi, 856 Brazilian Portuguese, 421 Spanish, 123 Polish

Most members who responded support the idea that virtual meetings meet the criteria to be NA groups:
Do you believe that virtual meetings meet the criteria to be NA groups, as listed in the The Group Booklet?

Yes: 3,466 (82%)                   No: 407 (10%        )                                   Not sure: 357 (8%)

CAR 2022 Motion

Hopefully we agreed on a proposed direction to proceed with CIRNA’s CAR motion from 2020 and I will have more information to discuss today. The Deadline for CAR motions is August 1st, and I am hoping to have our motion wrapped up and submitted ASAP.

WSZF & BMLT

I have been coordinating the addition of CIRNA meetings to the Western States Zonal Forum BMLT Server. Meeting information was populated with the current information from NAWS as a starting point.

So far, meeting information has been reviewed and updated for Southwest, Morongo Basin, and Greater Mojave Areas. We need the latest information for Lower Desert and Mountain to complete the process, although the 3 areas with updated info are live (visible on the WSZF meeting list).

You can see the currently updated meetings at:
https://bmlt.wszf.org/meetings/?service_body=1144&show_map=1

We can begin the work to take this information live on the CIRNA web site anytime, although it would be optimal to have current information from all 5 Areas.

Collaboration of US Zones

For those who have questions about the Collaboration of US Zones, a Zoom meeting is being hosted by the Rocky Mountain Zonal Forum on July 11th at 3pm Pacific (4pm Mountain).

Anyone is welcome to attend as an observer.
